Jefferson Lions Club

Launches A Season of Enchantment

With the scent of pine in the air, a gazebo filled with baked goodies, and a few cuts and bruises to go around, the Jefferson Lions Club spent last Saturday transforming Lions Park into this year's Enchanted Forest.

The morning started out with a threatening sky, but the clouds held back to allow club members plenty of time to prepare the trees for decoration. Snacks were donated by several organizations and B&B's, and helped keep everyone's strength going as the morning's work wore on. The Lions Club appreciated everyone who brought a plate out to the event.

Everyone probably remembers that last year's Enchanted Forest was a popular stop for the citizens of Jefferson, and also for visitors to our community on the Trail of Lights. The trees were wonderful - they were decorated in every color and style imaginable, and walking through the forest was a magical experience.

This year should be even better, since thirty more trees were added, for a total of one hundred Christmas trees. Lions Park promises to be even more beautiful this holiday season. Christmas trees are sponsored by families, civic groups and individuals.

Decorations are left to the creativity of the sponsors, so everyone is encouraged to use your imagination. Whether you are decking the tree in the theme of your business or club, enlisting a church or school group to decorate your tree, or simply working your own particular brand of magic, your addition to the Enchanted Forest will help make it a special part of Jefferson's Trail of Lights.

The Lions pictured helped set the trees up, but the Club was active throughout the holiday season: resetting trees that had fallen after the occasional wind storm, putting decorations back on trees, and taking everything down after New Years.

Decorating the Trees

The tree sponsors did a wonderful job of decorating the tress - each one was unique and attractive. The following photos show just a few of the trees that were in the Enchanted Forest.

The Enchanted Forest

The Enchanted Forest was the epicenter for the lighting of the City of Jefferson for Christmas. There were many dignitaries present, including the mayor, the High School Band, and a white-bearded fellow from the Norht Pole. Visitors to the city walked through the Enchanted Forest throughout the holiday season, and it was one of the most beautiful sites in the city!
